Firewall Ultra, an upcoming tactical VR shooter from developer First Contact Entertainment, will officially launch on August 24th, 2023. Pre-orders for the Standard and Digital Deluxe Editions are available now, and a new trailer featuring PvP gameplay has been revealed. According to a new tweet from the devs, fans can also expect “more updates and details” soon.
Firewall Ultra will be exclusively available on PS VR2, and no plans for other VR platforms have been confirmed since the game was first announced last September. You can watch today’s new gameplay trailer on the PlayStation YouTube channel:
An official PlayStation blog post reveals that the devs will continue to add content post-launch, including “new weapons and contractors, maps, additional game modes, and possibly manual reloads”.
However, the blog largely concentrates on how Firewall Ultra will capitalize on next-gen tech, which is certainly a highlight. One of the standouts is undoubtedly eye-tracking, which allows players to aim down sights, avoid flashbangs by closing their eyes, and “swap weapons on the fly”.
The previous title in the series was considered quite groundbreaking, so Firewall Ultra had some high standards to meet. Fortunately, it’s clear the devs enjoyed using all the latest tech to translate vision and even smaller interactions. This also widely expands in-game strategy, as players can get creative with using these new tools against their opponents.
PlayStation’s new blog today also revealed key details about the Digital Deluxe Edition, which features a variety of bonuses. These include an early unlock of four contractors, four contractor outfits, and more. Note that the legendary weapon, one of the more compelling bonuses, is reserved for pre-orders. Here’s the official image of all the exclusive content:
