The Tekken 8 Demo is getting timed exclusivity favoring PlayStation. Those who use PC and Xbox will have to wait an entire week before they can play the demo, which is strange to think about. This is the first time I’ve heard of demo exclusivity, but it looks like PlayStation plays hardball.
According to a tweet from Tekken 8 Game, PlayStation players can play the Tekken 8 demo on December 14, 2023, while those on Xbox and PC have to wait until December 21, 2023. This is a strange instance of timed exclusivity, which may also translate to the game. PlayStation has a habit of paying for timed exclusivity of games, and they likely didn’t just hold this one for the demo.
The Tekken 8 demo will include a lot of content, according to the follow-up tweet. It will include the first chapter, which is called The Dark Awakens. That’s not specific since it’s a fighting game, so we don’t know how long that gives players in the campaign. The demo will also have a local fighting mode. There was no mention of online features, so there will likely be none at release.
“Enjoy the first chapter of the #TEKKEN8 story, The Dark Awakens, and a local versus fighting mode.
See you in the ring, fighters “
Tekken 8 X (Formally Twitter)
The demo and game will only be released on the current generation of consoles. So that means PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This means those who have the last generation will have to miss out on the fun. However, if you’re on a PS5, you’ll get the fun before everyone else.
