Teamfight Tactics has announced a new set titled “Runeterra Reforged,” offering players a fresh take on the beloved Runeterra map with an array of innovative features.
Kent, the Lead Designer for TFT, unveiled the news, revealing the significant changes the set will bring to the game. Runeterra, the birthplace of TFT, is being revisited, yet the familiar landscape has been altered by a mighty storm, causing a convergence of diverse elements from across the game’s universe. The storm has reshuffled features from all corners of Runeterra, infusing the battlefield with sand from Shurima and scattering Piltovan technology across Ionian islands. This transformed and chaotic Runeterra, while seeming haphazard to its inhabitants, offers a wealth of strategic opportunities for players.
One of the key introductions in Runeterra Reforged is the Region Portals system. With this system, players at the start of each game can cast a vote to enter one of three portals leading to different regions across Runeterra. The new destination provides a host of strategic advantages, such as transforming a PvE round into a treasure-filled armory at Shurima’s Warlords Bazaar, or enabling bench champions to contribute their traits as though they were on the battlefield in God-Willow’s Grove of Ionia.
The game’s traits system has also been overhauled, bringing to life the distinct aspects of each region. For instance, Noxus units now gain bonus stats that escalate as you defeat more opponents, while Piltovan Tech introduces a new cashout mechanism, and the Sun Disk from Shurima empowers units with significant stat bonuses. The rework even extends to the game’s creatures, with the ability to summon aid from the Void, including entities like Void Remora, the Rift Herald, and Baron Nashor.
Moreover, the Runeterra Reforged set debuts a new feature called Legends, a dynamic system designed to offer players greater control over their destiny. Similar to choosing a Chibi Lillia or another tactician in the Loadout screen, players can now select one of their favorite Legends. These characters influence the Augments offered during gameplay, making it more strategic and personalized.
The Champion inspect tool is another significant improvement in the new set. This enhanced feature offers comprehensive information about a champion’s damage type, ideal items, stats, spell details, and range. Additionally, the revamped trait tracker now allows interaction with champions inside trait tooltips, making the game more accessible for newcomers and those returning after a hiatus.
In the spirit of delivering a unique gaming experience, TFT also introduces new Summoner’s Rift-inspired River Sprites, adorable Raptors, and Poros to the Tactician roster, each adding their unique charm to the game. Players can look forward to exploring more than just Summoner’s Rift, with arenas transporting them across Runeterra.
Lastly, TFT plans to extend its reach into Esports. The first global LAN event, scheduled for December in Las Vegas, will be an open-bracket event with 512 spots available, marking a new era for TFT Esports.
The Runeterra Reforged set symbolizes a new chapter in TFT, merging the comfort of familiar game elements with the thrill of innovative features.
