The Crew Motorfest, an upcoming new installment in the hit racing series from developer Ubisoft Ivory Tower, has just released a new “Festival Program” trailer featuring more gameplay and unique modes, as part of the Crew Summer Showcase.
The Crew Motorfest is slated to launch on September 14th, 2023. It will be available on PC via the Epic Games Store or directly from Ubisoft. It’s also coming to current or last-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles. You can watch today’s new trailer on the Ubisoft YouTube channel:
The setting still looks absolutely gorgeous in today’s trailer. It boasts the unique variety of an island, which smoothly combines busy residential areas with natural landscapes and obstacles. But racing games have really embraced open world gameplay, so it’ll be crucial for The Crew Motorfest to pack in as many different modes as possible.
Randomly generated tracks are a simple but brilliant mechanic for Grand Race mode, and it’s sure to keep players invested in exploring O’ahu enough to become familiar. It also means that mastering turns won’t be enough, so that newer players won’t be smothered if they join in down the road. And there likely won’t be any division over a demolition mode, a staple of the racing genre.
Today’s trailer also makes it clear that content will be updated regularly. Each season lasts four months, which is fairly balanced. It should give casual players enough time to complete the season, without leaving experts too bored.
So far, The Crew Motorfest is shaping up to improve on previous games. The Hall of Fame mechanic that inscribes players into the game’s history is a slick twist on leaderboards. The emphasis on content is both impressive and encouraging, and the devs seem to be trying to get ahead of traditional weaknesses in the genre.
