The SHD Network remains online for all The Division 2 players with the Warlords of New York expansion, as Ubisoft has announced a new season. This will be the game’s 9th season, and after having multiple seasons of reruns, this will be the first fresh content drop in a while. It’ll bring forth all of the usual stuff, which includes a new apparel event, targets to hunt, and a brand new game mode.

Season 9, Hidden Alliance, will begin in early May, with the roadmap revealing that content will continue to be released until the end of August. There will be five targets to hunt during that time. All the suspects belong to the game’s True Sons clan, with the key target being Captain Lewis. Before Lewis, there will be several targets that players will have to take down. Major Castillo is the first one you’ll be after, on the same day the season launches.

Perhaps the most exciting part of this season will be the new mode—Countdown. Developed to satisfy the community’s request for a replayable mode, it will pit Agents in a series of difficult challenges with time running out. The mode has already been tested by some of the players during the recent PTS waves, and apart from balancing, not much remains changed.

There is also a new way to upgrade your gear power making en route to the game. Once the season is live, you can increase the power of your equipment by using it in combat or investing resources in researching it via Expertise. It’ll be handful as more gear and equipment will be available from the Season 9 battle pass. Other things we’ll see with the update will be 2 new apparel events, 4 new leagues, and 6 global events.

The Division 2 had a decent start for a live service looter-shooter when it first launched in 2019. But it would proceed to fall from grace after an underwhelming post-launch. Though Ubisoft initially said it was not a financial mammoth like the first game, the overtime sales were enough to impress the publisher, as this will not be the last update for the game.
