A new patch for The Last of Us Part I is now available, addressing multiple issues and providing optimizations for PC gamers. The update includes enhancements to framerate, texture and graphical fidelity, and crash fixes. Additional improvements in CPU optimization, framerate, and texture fidelity will be introduced in future updates.

The patch optimizes CPU and GPU usage throughout the game and improves texture fidelity and resolution on Low and Medium in-game settings. The graphical fidelity has also been enhanced, particularly on water surfaces in the Low graphics preset. The update fixes several crashes, including those occurring during shader building, quitting to the Main Menu, and dying after combat.

Players will now have shorter wait times when loading into the game for the first time. The HUD menu now features an option for players to lock and unlock performance stats simultaneously. To provide more clarity, the Graphics menus now include descriptions explaining when certain settings may affect others.

The patch also introduces a Texture Streaming Rate setting and fixes issues related to skipping cutscenes during critical loads and shader load warnings not appearing while relaunching the game. Additionally, the VRAM bar has been updated for better accuracy in displaying OS+Apps usage, and issues with locked settings being read by the Screen Reader have been fixed.

Keyboard and mouse users will experience improved camera sensitivity when aiming downward, and handling of commands assigned to the same keybinding has been refined. Multiple menu options have had their translations corrected for various languages, and Ultrawide Displays now have the Rangefinder reticle position corrected for the bow.

For AMD users, the patch fixes a crash that may occur on CPUs with affinity limited to X3D cores and an issue with textures rendering incorrectly on AMD GPUs. Steam users will no longer experience the “It Can’t Be For Nothing” achievement not triggering despite acquiring all other achievements. Steam Deck users will find that resetting Display settings to Default now correctly enables AMD FSR 2.
