A recently introduced update to The Last of Us Part I brings a comprehensive array of enhancements and corrections to the game. The v1.1.0 patch centers on improving performance across the board, addressing issues with various crashes, and optimizing the game’s performance on the Steam Deck.

Following this update, The Last of Us Part I has achieved Steam Deck Verified status!

Enhancements resulting from the v1.1.0 patch span a multitude of areas. The global CPU and GPU performance throughout the game has been optimized, with overall improvements made to the texture and environment loading. Shader compilation times have also been enhanced.

Furthermore, several crashes that could occur under various conditions have been addressed. This includes crashes linked to custom controller settings changes, saving images in Photo Mode in 4K, playing on the Ultra graphics preset with DLSS enabled, using a high DPI mouse, and entering the Options > Graphics section. Multiple crashes affecting Intel GPU players have also been fixed.

Various issues negatively affecting gameplay have been resolved. Players losing the ability to aim or shoot after exiting menus, the persistent presence of the Flashlight tutorial on the screen, and the inadvertent throwing of an equipped item after exiting Photo Mode, are all problems of the past. Other rectifications include the correction of issues related to screen tearing with V-Sync enabled and the resolution of an audio problem that could arise when using a USB audio device alongside Spatial Audio Plug-Ins.

The v1.1.0 patch also introduces a new Very Low graphics preset (Options > Graphics > Graphics Presets) and new AI Quality and Dynamic Lights Quality settings in the graphics menu (Options > Graphics).

Specifically for AMD hardware users, an issue causing the game to crash during the building of shaders has been fixed, alongside the resolution of an issue where FPS could be impacted when enabling the GPU Usage monitor (Options > HUD > GPU Usage).

For players using the Steam Deck, this update introduces overall performance improvements and addresses a memory leak issue that could cause crashes. Various button prompt misalignments and issues with intense lighting effects triggered by changing (Options > Graphics > Graphics Presets) have also been resolved. Additionally, the Effects Density now defaults to Very Low instead of Low.

For both the Epic Games Store and Steam platforms, crashes that could occur under certain conditions have been resolved, and specific functionality issues have been corrected.
