The most recent update to The Last of Us Part I, labeled as v1.1.1, is now live, featuring a host of enhancements that primarily focus on visual corrections, user experience improvements, and crash prevention measures. Specific hardware and platform issues have also been addressed in this patch.
On the user experience front, the update brings a much-needed resolution to an issue where game crashes could occur during the restart of a Permadeath Speedrun following a character’s demise. The transition between available skins has also been optimized, with the update fixing crashes linked to rapid switching. The patch further irons out user interface inconsistencies, such as an overlapping bow icon and arrow counts when a melee weapon is equipped. In addition, the loading progress is now more evenly tracked in the ‘Loading %’ UI.
Visual improvements in the v1.1.1 patch range from enhancing the appearance of rock and rock wall textures in specific areas to addressing missing reflections in vehicles’ rear-view mirrors when Real-Time Reflections are disabled. Several instances where players could inadvertently see outside the game world have also been rectified. Furthermore, the patch adjusts the visual appearance of fog in “The University” and fixes the appearance of water in “The Outskirts” when Image-Based Lighting is turned off.
Issues linked to running the game at high framerates have been noted and addressed. These included camera-related problems and a glitch that caused the game to crash when crossing the bus in the “Bus Depot” level at high framerates.
Photo Mode also sees improvements, with a previous issue that blocked full selection of presets when using Gaze Direction now resolved. Additionally, the patch fixes the inability to interact with arrow icons while using a mouse to adjust the color of frames. Multiple models being highlighted simultaneously in the Model Viewer has also been fixed.
The standalone Left Behind also benefits from the update. A previously reported crash that occurred when Ellie dons the Seattle Wear skin at the beginning of Left Behind has been rectified.
The v1.1.1 patch also brings enhancements to accessibility features. Issues with the Screen Magnifier zoom functionality when using accessibility chord inputs have been fixed.
Platform-specific fixes include the rectification of directional button controls for behind-the-scenes podcast navigation on Steam Deck, and resolution of checkerboard patterns appearing on screen when using Motion Blur on AMD RX 580 and RX 590 series GPUs.
