The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is a story-driven action-adventure game set in the expansive and fantasy-filled world of Lord of the Rings. In a recent Twitter post from the official Lord of the Rings: Gollum account, the developers stated that the game will be delayed and will no longer release on September 1, 2022.
The post reads, “First of all, we would like to thank all of you for your patience and support so far. Over the last years, our team has been working hard to bring you a remarkable story in a breathtaking world, filled with magic and wonder.
We are dedicated to meeting our community’s expectations and uncovering the untold story of Gollum in a way that honours the vision of J. R. R. Tolkien.
That being said, in order to deliver the best possible experience, we have decided to push the release of The Lord of The Rings: Gollum™ by a few months. We will update you with an exact timing in the near future.
We are grateful for our passionate community and we cannot wait to share this unique adventure with you soon!”
While this announcement saddens fans, many are excited about Gollum’s story and the world that Daedalic Entertainment and Nacon are trying to bring to life.
In The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, you will get the chance to experience his story from when he was a slave below the Dark Tower to his time with the Elves in Mirkwood.
You must use his agility, stealth, and cunning to survive all the trials ahead of you. You will need to climb, leap, and grapple your way through treacherous terrains and assassinate those that stand in your way.
Every decision you make will influence Gollum’s personality as he struggles between the embodiment of Gollum and Sméagol. It’s up to you to decide whether to embrace Gollum’s darkness or find the last spark of humanity deep within Sméagol.
The official gameplay trailer showcases what players can expect from the game regarding the storyline, how to use your stealth and agility skills to sneak past foes, and the dangers Gollum will encounter.
