Originally scheduled for an early access release on May 14th, 2024, the Rogue Prince of Persia by Evil Empire has been given a new release date. This change comes in the wake of the unexpected launch of Hades 2, another roguelite game that grabbed players’ attention earlier this month. The wait won’t be long.
The release date for The Rogue Prince of Persia has been confirmed for May 27th, 2024. The game, developed by the creators of Dead Cells, offers fast-paced action and features an athletic Prince of Persia.
We reported that Evil Empire acknowledged the popularity of Hades 2 and chose to postpone its own release to avoid competing for player attention. The developer said, “Seeing as everyone is playing that game, we have decided to let people have their fun with it before we release The Rogue Prince of Persia.”
The delay wasn’t only because of the market. The company also wanted to improve the game. The team can finish and maybe add more to the first-day update with more time. The delayed game launch may disappoint some fans, but Evil Empire has apologized and promised that the wait will be worthwhile.
The announcement also disclosed the game’s cost. Although there were predictions of a high price of $60, The Rogue Prince of Persia will actually be much cheaper at $19.99 / €19.99. Also, Evil Empire suggested there might be a special launch discount to encourage people to buy the game early.
To keep fans entertained until the release date, Evil Empire has released a new gameplay trailer featuring the theme song by AsadiMusic, the game’s soundtrack composer. Although the full release is still a little ways off, fans can now get a sneak peek at the action.
