The July 18 update of The Sims 4 introduces a series of features and enhancements to the game. Among these additions are new hairstyles, a selection of eye presets and brows, the ability to color and pattern ceilings, and updates to various in-game items.

One of the features added to the game is the representation of Indigenous People in America through three hairstyles: the Double Braid, Single Braid, and Lengthened Hair that reaches to the Sims’ mid-back. Such features reflect the cultural significance of braids and long, flowing hair for Indigenous People.

The game now also offers a variety of new Eye Presets and brows in tapered, straight, and wavy shapes tailored for East Asian Sims. Additionally, the Eye Details category has been updated with three under-eye bag options, providing more depth to character customization.

In terms of in-game cuisine, the update brings the Three Sisters Chili to the virtual table. This dish, a nod to the Native American tradition, includes corn, beans, and squash, commonly referred to as the “three sisters” in Native American culture for their symbiotic growth pattern.

An update in the traits organization is also part of this new rollout. Traits have been restructured and are now more evenly distributed across the Emotional, Hobby, Lifestyle, and Social categories.

A significant addition to the build mode is the ability to apply colors and patterns to ceilings. This feature can be found in the same location where Floor Patterns were previously applied, now renamed as Floor and Ceiling Patterns. Users can opt for Ceilings by Tile or Ceilings by Room, select a pattern, and apply it to the chosen ceiling. However, this feature does not apply to the underside of roofs. Furthermore, players can now enter Free Camera in Build Mode to better view the ceilings, which can be enabled as it is in Live Mode.

The July 18 update also includes several new color variants for wall patterns such as Essence of Pastel, Desert Skies, and Above Deck, among others. Similarly, various wood floor patterns like Heartwood Plank Flooring and ForestFine Wood Flooring have new color variants. Even stone or brick floor patterns such as Perfect Pebble Paver and Throwback Cobblestone & Brick Pavers feature new color variants.

The wall patterns Dulcet Duet, Brick & Plaster, and Plaster Makes Perfect have been updated with matching color variants. In addition, the update adds new color variants for the Ladder-Style Horizontal Fencing. Lastly, the Simple Single-Panel Door gets a makeover, with new color variants and a new name, the Simple Single-Panel Door – Ranch.

You can see all of the changes and updates via the Patch Notes on the official The Sims 4 website.
