Players of Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered on the Epic Games Store have noticed various improvements not present in other versions of the game. These enhancements, detailed by YouTuber Small Medipack, include better graphics and gameplay adjustments. Looking at it, it’s clear that there was some favor shown to the Epic Games version.
One of the biggest changes is the Nevada level in Tomb Raider 3, which has nicer textures and animations. The Epic Games Store version also has a larger photo mode with 21 poses compared to other platforms. There’s a lot more noticeable detail. We’ll add the tweet below so you can look at the thread.
The upgrades go beyond certain levels, with the Epic Games Store version reportedly having more realistic snowflakes, extra ceilings in the Greece levels, and a different skybox in the Colosseum level. Players also say the Modern Control scheme feels “slightly better” on the Epic Games Store, with a more stable and responsive camera.
Looking at all of the differences is really eye-opening. There’s clearly a lot more effort in the Epic Games version than in others. It’s almost like looking at PS1 to PS2 remasters of games.
What’s notable is that these improvements come with a reported downside. Some players have reported that the achievement system is currently not working properly on the Epic Games Store version, preventing them from unlocking achievements. That kind of thing can be patched in, but a huge overall, like graphics and gameplay details, isn’t something easily changed.
For now, it seems like the Epic Games version of the game is the better one.
