Total War: PHARAOH, an upcoming installment in the hit grand strategy franchise from developer Creative Assembly and publisher SEGA, has just released a new cinematic teaser featuring Ramesses. This coincided with the announcement of a full Ramesses gameplay showcase on July 13th, 2023, at 3PM BST.
Total War: PHARAOH still doesn’t have an exact release date, but it’s slated for October 2023. You can watch today’s Ramesses cinematic trailer on the Total War YouTube channel:
Total War: PHARAOH was only just announced a couple of weeks ago, but it was quickly followed by an extensive first look that ran for nearly an hour. You can also review that video on Total War YouTube channel:
Unfortunately, today’s teaser doesn’t reveal anything new, and instead focuses on the Ramesses with some new cinematic footage. It seems today’s teaser was mostly intended to build some hype for the gameplay showcase arriving tomorrow.
The devs were also careful to bluntly warn viewers up front that the in-game footage was still subject to change. And although some of the movement does still feel a little stiff, there is some striking imagery.
There’s an equal share of gorgeous landscapes that give the plot a real sense of scale, as well as smaller character-driven moments, both of which are crucial to keep fans invested in grand strategy gameplay. After all, players will be spending an exorbitant number of hours in this world.
The way that today’s teaser plays with lighting creates such a unique environment, which is of course the big hook for this Total War installment. The franchise is arguably best known for their fantasy adventures with Warhammer, but those entries which explore the past can be underrated. And Total War: PHARAOH already looks to expand on them with more freedom and ingenuity than ever.
