In a surprising turn of events, Ubisoft has confirmed that the highly anticipated sequel to its online action-shooter RPG series, Tom Clancy’s The Division 3, is in the works.
The information came to light after the official Ubisoft website announced that Star Wars Outlaws Creative Director, Julian Gerighty, has been appointed as the Executive Producer for The Division Brand. His primary focus in this new role will be on building a team for the development of Tom Clancy’s The Division 3.
Julian Gerighty is no stranger to Tom Clancy’s The Division franchise, having previously served as the Creative Director for both the first and second installments. Gerighty will be returning to The Division Brand once Star Wars Outlaws has shipped in 2024.
Gerighty shared his excitement about his role in shaping the future of Tom Clancy’s The Division and reflected on his journey with the franchise’s development. Before joining Tom Clancy’s The Division team as Associate Creative Director in 2014, he remembers being impressed by the original’s first reveal at E3 2013, saying, “I remember the gameplay promise – the co-op, PvP, the open-world RPG aspects. Its world seemed very relatable, and very realistic, like you could really be an agent for change within it.”
The development of Tom Clancy’s The Division 3 will be led by Massive Entertainment while making sure Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 remains well supported. Meanwhile, Gerighty’s focus will be on strengthening the franchise’s identity. Gerighty stated, “We may have over 40 million players, but The Division is still in its early years as a franchise. There are so many incredible stories to tell, places to explore and people to protect, “
While the confirmation of Tom Clancy’s The Division 3‘s development might appear somewhat casual, it has generated considerable excitement among fans. Finally, fans can rest assured that further updates on the game’s development progress will provided in the near future.
