Earlier this week, Ubisoft made the decision to delay Skull & Bones for the sixth time in addition to canceling three unannounced projects. The enthusiasm that many had been building up for the upcoming action-adventure video game seems to have been a little subdued by the report. However, Ubisoft stated that the delay is intended to give additional time to develop a considerably more polished and well-balanced gaming experience. Skull & Bones will now be released at some point in the early 2023-2024 timeframe.

Recently, Ubisoft released a new Devstream, featuring the developers of Skull & Bones as they discuss the game’s narrative gameplay and answer some of the most frequently asked questions from fans. THE DECK Gameplay Devstream featured Senior Community Developer, Alexis Creton, and was joined by Skull & Bones Narrative Director, Joel Janisse. Skull & Bones is known to be inspired by the naval combat in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. The game’s development started in 2013, when it was envisioned as an extension of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and then as a Black Flag Infinite MMO spinoff. It was later broken off as a separate project, in part because its original technology had become outdated.

Following the over 30-minute dive into the narrative gameplay of Skull & Bones, several fans have become even more excited for the game’s release. Nonetheless, some believe that Skull & Bones, while appearing to have a lot of potential, is bound to have problems as it has been in development for so long. Hopefully, the little delay will be worthwhile, and all of the efforts on refining and balancing changes based on feedback from earlier tests will reflect upon the game’s full release.

Skull & Bones will conduct another live test soon, for which you may register through this link. Meanwhile, the exact release date of Skull & Bones remains unconfirmed as of now.
