V Rising is the newest survival craft to take Steam players by storm. Unlike other games in the genre, V Rising sees players donning the cape and fangs of a powerful vampire, taking on a series of bosses to grow in strength and eventually dominate the landscape from their massive castle.
Whether you’re playing the game online or taking it on solo, knowing what to do in the early game can be the difference between slow and quick progression. If you’re looking for tips to make your early game in V Rising better, this is the guide for you.
V Rising Best Tips for getting started
Leaving the graveyard in V Rising will put you into a hostile environment full of wolves, bandits, golems, and even other players. When entering this world, you won’t be completely without guidance; A series of missions will guide you along your path, and are necessary to complete in order to unlock recipes.
Though these missions are good at getting you started, they leave out a lot of information that you’ll only discover later through trial and error. To save you some time, keep these tips in mind when getting started in V Rising.
Build your base near the border with the Dunley Farmlands
When building your first base in V Rising, look towards the northern part of the Farbane Woods and position your base there. Putting your base near the border with the Dunley Farmlands will put you closer to the majority of V-Bloods and valuable farming locations in the Farbane Woods; After you beat the Alpha Wolf and clear out the copper mines, most V-Bloods will be closer to this area.
This will also make it easier when you start moving towards the Dunley Farmlands, around levels 30-35.
Kill lots of Bandits
Before you can start mining Iron, which is needed to progress into the mid-game of V Rising, you will need merciless copper tools. In order to get these items, you need to get really lucky with a recipe drop from a Bandit, or use paper at the library.
Killing Bandits is your only real way to get either. Clear out as many Bandit Camps on the map you can, as often as possible. Jumping patrols of Bandits you encounter on the road while traveling is a great way to passively build up paper or get Merciless drops.
Gather Flowers and Gems as often as possible
Spells in V Rising are incredibly powerful, and often will be a huge portion of your damage output in any encounter, especially when fighting V-Bloods. Upgrading your Ring will greatly increase your level, so preparing for your next ring upgrade is really important.
The three ring upgrades after the Bone Ring require Blood Roses, Grave Dust, and crude Mist Stones. Because of this, you should gather Blood Roses as you come by them, to be prepared for your next ring upgrade. Crude Mist Stones drop randomly from rocks with gem deposits, so you should mine these as you come across them so you can have the stones needed when you’re ready to upgrade your ring.
