Valorant, the hit free to play hero shooter from Riot Games, has just released a new cinematic and gameplay trailer teasing a new 5v5 Team Deathmatch mode, where the first to 100 wins, fought across four stages with unique weapon loadouts. There will also be three new maps, including District, Piazza and Kasbah.
Valorant is available now on PC. The new mode will launch alongside Episode 7, Act I. You can watch today’s new Team Deathmatch trailer on the Valorant YouTube channel:
Team Deathmatch is a classic shooter mode, so it’s almost certain to draw in more casual players. A hundred kills might seem pretty high, but Valorant has a very low Time to Kill. The pacing, respawns, removal of econ, and other features like weapon spawners are going to feel so much more accessible.
In addition to inviting newcomers, Team Deathmatch is definitely going to give experienced players the chance to practice specific weapons and heroes in real situations.
Not to mention the opportunity to warm up before key ranked matches. This will be even more crucial following the introduction of Premier, which held a Global Open Beta back in April, and gives players an in-game path to professional careers.
Valorant continues to evolve, adding content that makes a genuine impact on the meta, like the new progression system. It consistently rises above competing titles. The maps revealed today look balanced and intriguing, with unique architecture and some surprising lines of sight. The angles and elevation in Piazza are a particular highlight.
And besides the upcoming content, all of the lore in today’s trailer is brilliant, with a great sense of humor and fun characterization. Max Bot’s performance and role were a genuine surprise and superbly executed.
