What’s New in WoW Season of Discover (SoD) Phase 3
WoW Classic Phase 3 of Season of Discovery (SoD) introduces several new features and updates:
Leveling and Content
- Level cap increased to 50.
- 6+ new runes for each class added (Head & Wrist slots). Refer to the complete list of Phase 3 runes for details.
- Level 50, 20-player raid: Temple of Atal’Hakkar (Sunken Temple).
- Dual Talent Specialization available for purchase (50 gold at level 40).

Professions
- Profession level cap removed (Artisan level 300).
- Profession Specializations introduced. Blizzard has indicated unique additions for levels 50 and 60.
- Several new specialization quests and recipes.
- New questline unlocking access to Nightmare Armaments crafting recipes. These recipes will have negligible gold costs.
- Reduced costs for existing epic Phase 2 recipes.
Additional Changes
- Outdoor PvE Event: Nightmare Incursions.
- PvP Content:
- New level 50 PvP Sets (ranks 5-7 required).
- Starter PvP set introduced via the Emerald Wardens faction.
- Blood Moon updates with new rewards and “Massacre Coins” currency.
- World Buffs:
- New world buff from Temple of Atal’Hakkar.
- Gnomeregan and Blackfathom Deeps world buffs restricted by level.
- Leveling Updates
- Restrictions placed on Marks of Honor, Wastewander Water Pouches, and Troll Necklaces (levels 40-49).
- 50% Discoverer’s Delight buff available (levels 40-49).
- Gnomeregan raid will offer significant XP gains.
- Nightmare Incursions designed to supplement leveling.
How to Prepare for SoD Phase 3
To prepare for WoW SoD Phase 3, we advise you to complete the following actions:
Character Progression
- Level any characters you plan to play in Phase 3 to level 40.
- Acquire as much raid gear as possible. Refer to build guides for your class and specialization to identify the best items.
- Reach Revered reputation with the Warsong faction and complete the weekly Ashenvale quest.
- Utilize the SoD Phase 3 Pre-Questing Guide to reach level 41 or 42 quickly, minimizing competition from other players.
- Attain at least PvP Rank 3 to unlock vendor discounts and valuable class-specific gear.
Professions and Skills
- Level primary professions to 225.
- Invest gold in Phase 3 crafting materials to secure your wealth against potential inflation.
- Level First Aid to 225. Optionally, consider leveling Cooking to 225 on at least one character.
- Learn and start leveling any weapon skills required for Phase 3.
- Obtain necessary flight paths for easier travel in Phase 3.
Reputation and PvP
- Gain reputation with your preferred Arathi Basin faction by participating in the Stranglethorn Vale PvP event and Arathi Basin activities.
When Is SoD Phase 4?
Season of Discovery (SoD) Phase 4 is projected to begin in Summer 2024. This phase will introduce a new maximum level cap of 60, along with accompanying runes and end-game activities. While not yet officially confirmed, it’s likely that SoD will feature staggered level 60 raid releases, following a pattern similar to previous phases.
