Wuthering Waves, a new open world action RPG from developer Kuro Game, has released an all-new gameplay trailer ahead of the closed beta test. The trailer features a combination of gorgeous cinematics and gameplay, including intense combat and map traversal.
The closed beta for Wuthering Waves is slated to launch on April 24th, 2023. It will add even more maps, characters, and other content. Wuthering Waves will be available on PC, as well as iOS or Android devices. You can watch today’s new trailer on the game’s official YouTube channel:
Perhaps the most striking thing about Wuthering Waves is the fluidity of its movement, particularly in regard to combat. The devs have really captured the rhythmic battles of their influences, and made it their own with acrobatic and big, sweeping energy.
Although today’s trailer notes that the footage should all be considered a work in progress, there is no question that the visuals are finely detailed and attractive. The colors pop, and the effects surrounding each character appear to fit their personality. All of the attacks are filled with different shapes and themes.
Wuthering Waves already released nearly 11 minutes of gameplay just last month, so there aren’t many new mechanics on display. After all, that extended showcase committed to a surprisingly wide variety of scenes.
Today’s trailer does offer up some new environments and enemies to consider. They are just as deeply thematic and distinguishable as the characters. The music to the trailer also conjures up old school sounds, then blends them with modern ideas and a touch of mystery.
Anyone who wasn’t sold on the previous footage probably won’t change their minds today. But the general consensus is that Wuthering Waves should prove to be quite the competition for Genshin Impact.
