The latest update for Xbox focuses on bringing new features for remote play. One of the recent enhancements focuses on the expansion of touch controls for Xbox remote play.

According to Xbox Wire, this update allows players to enjoy gaming on their mobile devices even without their Xbox Wireless Controller. The Xbox app on iOS, Android, and Windows devices now offers custom touch control layouts for over a hundred games, including popular titles like Minecraft Dungeons, Psychonauts 2, and Sea of Thieves. Additionally, a basic touch control layout is available for games without specific custom layouts, providing more gaming options when on the go.

I use Xbox Remote Play and Cloud Gaming, and I’ve been waiting for this. Many times, I’d rather just use my phone for gaming and not deal with the whole setup. Also, many games don’t need the controller, so this is very welcome.

In addition to enhancing the remote play experience, the update introduces a new thumbstick recalibration tool for Xbox Wireless Controllers. The user-guided self-calibration tool in the Xbox Accessories app can now help address stick drift. Essentially, this is a great way for players to fix stick drift without the need to replace a controller or buy a new one.

The update also improves the My games & apps section, making finding and organizing your game collection easier. With new filters and sorting options, users can now filter games based on accessibility, supported languages, and technical features. For example, if one is looking for touch-enabled games for remote play, they can filter their library based on technical features.

Additionally, subscription tabs in the full library have been updated to sort by Recently added. It’s a really cool update and honestly makes me really happy.
