PlayStation fans eagerly awaiting the release of the Tomb Raider Trilogy Remaster may be surprised to learn that the PS5 version will not offer Platinum trophies for completing each game. While the PS4 iteration boasts the coveted Platinum for each title, the PS5 versions will only feature individual Bronze, Silver, and Gold trophies.

This discrepancy comes from a recent PlayStation policy about multi-game trophy lists. Previously, compilations like the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 allowed players to earn a single Platinum trophy encompassing all included games. However, this changed to restrict this approach, resulting in the lack of Platinum trophies for the PS5 Tomb Raider Remaster.

For many players, trophies are a minor and sometimes insignificant bonus rather than a major selling point. However, there are achievement and trophy hunters who want to get the almost 300 trophies (reported by Insider-Gaming) this trilogy has. Getting a platinum is kind of like a reward for doing all of them. Platinum trophies are a motivator for completionism and replayability. Some might argue the lack of Platinums on PS5 diminishes the value proposition compared to the PS4 version, especially for trophy hunters.

Despite the lack of Platinum trophies, the Tomb Raider Trilogy Remaster still offers a substantial trophy haul with almost 300 individual accolades across the three games. These trophies range from completing the games in record times and finding all collectibles to tackling more unique challenges like performing handstands on specific landmarks.

Ultimately, the decision to forgo Platinum trophies on the PS5 version of the Tomb Raider Trilogy Remaster rests with PlayStation. They could make an exception to the rule this time, but it may be pretty hard to push on one game and not others.
